This component features the delivery of farm and business advisory services through the use of the ICT. Similarly, these services will be in collaboration with the other government institutions’ subject matter specialists and ICT facilities as well. The services include the technical advisory services on agriculture and fisheries technologies, agricultural marketing assistance services. Briefly, it will provide technical assistance to the farmers, extension workers, in terms of making their farming a profitable enterprise. Likewise, it will facilitate information exchange among the traders and investors in the agriculture and fisheries sector.
Initially, this component will tap the newly established Philippine Agribiz Centers of the Department of Agriculture (920-AGRI) and the DA Central Action Center (9263833 and 0929-8213434), which both offer 24/7 Agri Service Assistance, with the former focusing on agribusiness investments and the latter on the field operations.
In the works is the institution of a Farmer’s Call Center that will supplement the services provided therein by the Philippine Government. This will showcase the agri-entrepreneurial helpdesk promoting agriculture as a business.
Another delivery channel for this service is the network of the 223 Farmers’ Information Technology Service (FITS) Centers nationwide, where the DA-ATI hosts the National Information and Technology Services (NITS) Center.
The farm and business advisory services are available online, through the Farmers’ Call Center or face-to-face interactions through the identified delivery channels.
