Hi E-learning Administrators and fellow e-learners,

My name is Jerry, from Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija. Currently an OFW in the field of construction.

It's really hard working away from your native land and even harder when you are away from your immediate family. I've been thinking to be back home soon, but the question of source of livelihood is the most terrifying part of it.

I believe that education plays a great role in empowering an individual to be able to survive and provide for his/her family. This is the very reason I yearn to learn bits and pieces which will arm me to fight hunger and poverty. As I don't see much hope going back working as a construction worker, I thought of farming as an alternative. Perhaps, an agri-business would be a very good option. I know it's hard being a farmer but you will have a better chance to avoid hunger by having the ability to produce your own food. And benefit a bit more by providing food for others in exchange for anything else that you need. Fingers crossed but I believe that if you have the will, God will take care of the means... In any case, I was and still am very interested with agriculture. It's just that I didn't get the chance to indulge in it. I already reached my life's twilight zone but I hope it's not too late to venture into something I always wanted to do.

In this moment of pondering, I started to search for channels to learn things and stuff on agriculture. Luckily, I found this website which I believe is the best way to learn something theoretically (at least). Not a bad way to kick-start a new career. Something which I can do and redo at any time, with no pressure at all. I haven't decided which of the countless courses should I take. Each one is too interesting not to consider but I hope to be able to select one or 2 that I think I can manage to apply in real life.

Many thanks to the beautiful people of the Department of Agriculture. Mabuhay po kayong lahat!
