e-Extension Program
The e-Extension Program of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) is the digital strategy of the Philippine Department of Agriculture (DA) for delivering agricultural extension services. Launched in December 2007, the program provides a virtual one-stop-shop for farmers, fisherfolk, agricultural extension workers, and other stakeholders to access agriculture and fisheries-related information, education, and communication (IEC) materials, online courses, and tech support.
By virtue of Department Order No. 3, series of 2007, the DA mandated the Institute to lead in the provision of e-Extension services in collaboration with the various agencies, bureaus, and organization units of the DA. This is to integrate and harmonize the ICT-based extension delivery systems for agriculture and fisheries.
The e-Extension Program empowers the farming and fishing sector by bringing government services and expert knowledge closer to the grassroots, especially in remote areas where traditional extension workers may have limited reach. Gearing towards Digital Agriculture, the ATI commits to a modern, inclusive, and tech-driven agriculture and fisheries sector.
