Aloha from Hawaii!!

I felt like I hit a gold mine here! All these interesting, informative agri classes....for free! Thank you very much e-learning staff and all the implementing agencies that made this e-learning possible.

My name is Julie. Back in the 80's, I used to work at the DA as an extension worker prior to immigrating here in the US. I am ashamed to admit but I played a role in helping our small poor farmers...laid waste or toxic to their fields thru what we call...Modern Chemical Agriculture. It makes me sad that nowadays these fields had deteriorated in it's structure, nutrients depleted as a result, that our poor farmer had become dependent on these exorbitant toxic nutrients and pest controls( and seeds too!) to grow their crops. Most times they even ended up not having a profit at all due to the high costs of inputs! Worst of all, these chemicals have contaminated our drinking water and slowly poisoning our bodies from eating these produce sprayed with chemicals.

That is why I am so excited to see these government programs promoting organic farming/sustainable agriculture and how the population enthusiastically embraced it.

I am preparing to go back home, an early retirement, and I hope to go into natural farming myself and become a good role model in the community.

Hi Julie!

Thank you so much for that very nice complement.

We are very glad to have heard from a former Extension Worker, now one of our e-Learners! We do hope that, someday, after you retire and come home, you can apply what our free online courses have taught you. ATI is indeed proud of those extension workers who extend a helping hand to farmers.

We also hope that we could meet you sometime. Thank you and happy e-Learning!
